IND vs ENG: Arshdeep and Varun… if they go to Wankhede, they will get the ticket for the final!
India and England are going to clash today (March 5) in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup. These two big teams will face each other at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. England did not have a special start in the tournament. She narrowly escaped defeat from Nepal in Wankhede itself. After this, England had to face a crushing defeat at the hands of West Indies on the same ground. The English team recovered from a disappointing start and entered the Super-8 by defeating Scotland and Italy and then won all three matches in the Super-8 stage and made it to the semi-finals.
The England team has reached the semi-finals this fall but its opening pair is still struggling. Veteran batsman Jos Buttler has been able to score only 62 runs in 7 matches. Same is the case with Phil Salt. Salt has scored 125 runs, which includes a half-century. The difficulties of these two will not reduce even against India. Jasprit Bumrah has an excellent record against Butler while Arshdeep Singh has dominated Phil Salt.

Arshdeep has dismissed Salt 4 times
Bumrah has dismissed Butler 4 times in 14 T20 innings. During this period, Butler has been able to score only 79 runs in 88 balls. Considering Butler’s poor form, he is not considered a big threat but Salt can explode at any time. In such a situation, Arshdeep Singh’s move will be important. Arshdeep and Salt have faced each other in 10 T20 matches, in which the left-arm fast bowler has sent Salt to the pavilion 4 times. Arshdeep has not even given Salt a chance to play freely. Salt was able to score only 50 runs on his 44 balls.
Will Varun hunt Harry Brook?
England captain Harry Brook is in tremendous form. He has scored 228 runs in 7 matches. During this period, he has scored 1 century and 1 half-century from his bat. Brook is now coming at number-3. If Team India breaks the Butler-Salt pair in the initial overs itself, then it will have to bring Varun Chakraborty in the powerplay to stop Brook. Varun did not bowl in the powerplay against West Indies. Varun was kept back till the 9th over but he can be brought into the attack early for Brook. Varun has dismissed Brook 3 times in 30 balls.
Varun has not been in form in the last three matches. Arshdeep was also expensive in the last match. If both these bowlers perform in a big match like the semi-finals, then Team India can get a ticket to the final.
