PM Modi holds bilateral talks with Finnish President Dr. Alexander Stubb, discusses strengthening bilateral relations

New Delhi, March 5. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with the President of Finland Dr. Alexander Stubb at Hyderabad House here on Thursday and discussed strengthening bilateral relations. During this period many MoUs were signed between the two countries.

After the bilateral talks, PM Modi reiterated the commitment of India and Finland to the partnership and said that it will further strengthen trade, investment and technical cooperation between India and Finland. He said, ‘I welcome President Alexander Stubb on his first visit to India as President of Finland. It is an honor and pleasure to have an experienced leader like you as the chief guest of this year’s Raisina Dialogue. There is a situation of conflict in many parts of the world from Ukraine to West Asia. In such a situation, India and Europe are entering the golden phase of their relations.

The Prime Minister said, ‘Our growing cooperation is giving new achievements to development and shared prosperity. Historic FTA agreement reached in early 2026. This will further strengthen trade, investment and technical cooperation between India and Finland. The two countries are important partners in areas such as digital technology, infrastructure and sustainability. Nokia’s mobile phones and telecom networks have connected millions of Indians. In collaboration with Finnish architects, we have built the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River. The world’s largest Assam Bio Ethanol Private Limited (ABEPL) refinery has been built in Numaligarh, Assam in partnership with Finland.

He said, ‘Inspired by such important examples, in this visit of President Stubb, we are transforming India-Finland relations from a strategic partnership to one of digitalization and stability. This partnership will accelerate and energize our cooperation in many high-tech areas, from AI to 6G telecom and from clean energy to quantum computing. We are also unanimous that reform of global institutions is not only necessary but also urgent to solve the growing global challenges and it is our common commitment to root out every form of terrorism.

PM Modi said, ‘Both India and Finland believe in the rule of law, dialogue and diplomacy. We are unanimous that no issue can be resolved through military dispute alone. Be it Ukraine or Western Asia, we will continue to support every effort for an early end to the conflict and peace.

It is noteworthy that the President of Finland, Dr. Stubb will attend the inauguration ceremony of Raisina Dialogue at Hotel Taj Palace this evening as the chief guest and will give the keynote address. PM Modi will inaugurate the 11th edition of Raisina Dialogue today.
