Amazing in 6 years, Kia’s sales in India created a new record, won the hearts of the middle class with its affordable SUV.

Kia India Record Sales: The car market in India is changing rapidly and amidst this change, the Indian unit of South Korean auto company Kia India is continuously making new records. The company is set to register its highest ever annual sales in FY 2026.

According to the latest data, from April 2025 to February 2026, the company has registered wholesale sales of 2,59,923 vehicles, which is about 13 percent more than the same period last year. Earlier, the company’s highest annual sales were 2,69,229 units in FY2023. If sales remain strong even in March, this record can be easily broken.

Kia at sixth position in Indian car market

In FY 2025, Kia India stood at sixth position in the Indian passenger vehicle market. At that time the company had registered sales of 2,55,207 units. Maruti Suzuki topped the list, followed by Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Toyota Kirloskar Motor. Even in the first 11 months of FY 2026, Kia remains at the same sixth position, but its sales are continuously increasing.

The company has sold 14.5 lakh cars in India

After entering India in August 2019, Kia has sold more than 14.5 lakh cars in just six and a half years. Interestingly, it took 49 months for the company to sell the initial 7.5 lakh units, while the next 7.5 lakh vehicles were sold in just 42 months. This speed shows how fast Kia’s popularity is increasing in the Indian market.

Demand for Indian cars even abroad

Kia India is performing well not only in the domestic market but also in exports. From August 2019 till now, the company has sent 2,87,151 vehicles abroad. Among these, the highest demand has been for Kia Seltos, of which 1,55,224 units have been exported. It is followed by Kia Sonet (1,03,778 units) and Kia Carens (28,008 units). The company’s luxury MPV Kia Carnival has also been sent abroad in limited numbers.

Growing strength in Indian market

Kia started in India with just one model, Seltos, but now the company has a total of 9 models. These include electric vehicles like Seltos, Sonet, Syros, Carens, Carens Clavis, Carnival along with Kia EV6 and Kia EV9. Today, the company’s sales and service network spans 849 touchpoints across 382 cities, providing better service to customers.

These three vehicles increased the speed of the company

The biggest contributors to Kia’s sales are Sonet, Carens and Seltos. Sonet’s share in the 2,32,313 vehicles sold in the first 10 months of FY 2026 was about 40 percent. This was followed by Carens with 29 percent and Seltos with 27 percent. These three models have become the biggest pillars of Kia’s rapid growth.
