ST drivers have to take this test every day; Strict rules of MSRTC
MSRTC New Rules | Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has taken another revolutionary decision to strengthen the safety of ST passengers. Corporation has made alcotest examination mandatory for driver-carriers. This test will be done daily through alcotest machine, also it will be necessary for the carriers to be checked by alcotest machine before duty and keep a record of it. State Transport Minister and Chairman of ST Corporation Pratap Sarnaik has given information about this.
There is an equally serious reason for taking this decision by ST Corporation (MSRTC New Rules). In fact, after Pratap Sarnaik paid a surprise visit to the Paral Bus Stand in Mumbai on January 25, he found many liquor bottles in the driver-carrier’s lounges, not only that, but some ST employees were also found to be intoxicated. The Transport Minister saw this shocking situation with his own eyes. After this, he directed to take action against the responsible officials in this matter. It was also ordered to take strict measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Following the orders of the Transport Minister, the ST administration had appointed a committee of three officers. The committee conducted a thorough investigation of the entire incident and suggested necessary measures to prevent such incidents from happening again. According to the new measures, the drivers appearing for work in ST Agar will be regularly checked by vehicle inspectors. Also, the carriers will also be screened by alcotest machine before duty. A record of both these tests will be kept there. Assistant Workshop Superintendent, Assistant Traffic Superintendent, Traffic Inspector, Assistant Traffic Inspector and Traffic Controller have been directed to monitor whether the drivers and carriers have been tested for alcohol or not. Also, it has been clarified that it is necessary to effectively implement these orders by maintaining regular control by warehouse managers. MSRTC New Rules
Apart from this, it will be mandatory for the driver to record the logbook in the control room while the bus is on the route. After registering the driver, he is forced to be sent on the next route only after taking the correct registration after Alcotest test. The head of the station has been ordered to ensure that this inspection is being done regularly or not.
It has been made mandatory to check the drivers, conductors and employees in the rest rooms of the bus station and Agar area from time to time by using Alcotest machine and keep a record of it. The guardian officers of the concerned department have been instructed to check the implementation of these measures during the visit to the Agar and bus stand.
