‘Chak De India’ echoed in Wankhede, India in the final of T20 World Cup for the fourth time, but Bethal won the hearts of the fans.

Indian Cricket Team reaches the final of T20 World Cup 2026: The second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026, played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5, was no less than an exciting match. In this high-scoring match played between India and England, Team India performed brilliantly and won by 7 runs and secured its place in the final. With this victory, the Indian team has reached the final for the fourth time in the history of T20 World Cup. Before this, India has played the final in 2007, 2014 and 2024. The special thing is that India has become the first defending champion to reach the final of the T20 World Cup.

High scoring match with rain of runs

In this semi-final match, tremendous performance of batsmen was seen from both the teams. There was such a rain of runs during the entire match that both the teams together scored around 500 runs. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the Indian team scored a huge score of 253 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In response, the England team also showed a strong fight, but could only score 246 runs in 20 overs. This exciting match, which lasted till the last over, kept the audience engaged till the end and this match will be remembered for a long time.

India got a strong start with Sanju Samson’s stormy innings.

Sanju Samson played the most important role in the innings of the Indian team. He batted aggressively and hit big shots all around the field. Samson played a brilliant inning of 89 runs in just 42 balls, which included 8 fours and 7 sixes. Abhishek Sharma was out early as the initial shock, but after that Samson got good support from Ishan Kishan. Ishan Kishan also batted fast and scored 39 runs in 18 balls. In the middle order, Shivam Dubey played a useful inning of 43 runs in 25 balls. In the last overs, Hardik Pandya played a quick inning of 27 runs and Tilak Verma played a quick inning of 21 runs, making an important contribution in taking the team’s score to 253. For England, Will Jacques and Adil Rashid took 2 wickets each, but could not succeed in stopping the Indian batsmen.

Despite Bethel’s century, England lost

The England team, which came out to chase the big target of 254 runs, did not have a good start. Hardik Pandya sent Phil Salt to the pavilion for 5 runs, while Jasprit Bumrah dismissed captain Harry Brook for 7 runs. After the initial setbacks, young batsman Jacob Bethel took charge of the innings and kept England in the match with brilliant batting. Bethel played a brilliant century of 105 runs in just 48 balls. He hit 8 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. Will Jacques also contributed 35 runs and the partnership between the two made the match very exciting. However, Indian bowlers changed the course of the match by taking wickets at important moments.

There was tremendous excitement in the last over

The most excitement of the match was seen in the last two overs. In the 19th over, Hardik Pandya gave a big success to India by dismissing Sam Curran for 18 runs. In the last over, England needed 30 runs to win and captain Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to Shivam Dubey. Jacob Bethel was run out on the very first ball of the over while trying to take the second run, which dealt a big blow to England’s hopes. After this, Joffra Archer did not give up and hit three sixes in the last over. Archer scored 19 runs in only 4 balls, but despite this the England team remained 7 runs away from the target.

The contribution of the bowlers was also very important in this important victory of India. Jasprit Bumrah bowled tightly in a pressure-packed match and took 1 wicket for 33 runs in 4 overs. Hardik Pandya also performed brilliantly and took 2 important wickets for 38 runs. With this victory, India settled its 39-year-old score against England at the Wankhede Stadium and maintained its excellent form in the tournament. Now Team India will face New Zealand in the final match to be held on March 8, where the entire country is hoping for another world title.
