Apple’s ‘affordable’ MacBook Neo launched in India with A18 Pro chip and 16 hours battery
Apple has expanded its Mac lineup with the launch of a new 13-inch MacBook Neo. According to the company, this model has been brought into the Mac ecosystem as an entry level device. MacBook Neo is powered by Apple’s A18 Pro chip and comes with a fanless design, which provides silent operation during use. The laptop has a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, 500 nits brightness, 8GB unified memory and the option of 256GB or 512GB SSD storage. It is offered in four color options and runs on macOS.
Talking about the price, Apple has priced the 256GB storage variant of MacBook Neo at Rs 69,900, while the 512GB model comes at Rs 79,900. It is available in Silver, Blush, Citrus and Indigo colors. According to the company, orders for the laptop have started in about 30 countries including India through Apple Online Store and Apple Store app. Its sale in India will start from March 11 at Apple Store and Apple Authorized Resellers.
Talking about the design of MacBook Neo, it has an aluminum body and rounded corner design. Its weight is said to be around 1.23 kg. It has a 13 inch Liquid Retina display, whose resolution is 2408×1506 pixels and 219 PPI. The display comes with 500 nits brightness, 1 billion color support and anti-reflective coating, which is claimed to improve visibility in different lighting conditions.
For performance, it has been provided with Apple’s A18 Pro chip, which includes 6 core CPU (2 performance + 4 efficiency cores), 5 core GPU and 16 core Neural Engine. According to the company, this chip can be about 50 percent faster than a PC with an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor for common tasks like web browsing and can deliver up to three times better performance in on-device AI workloads. It has also been claimed to get almost double the speed in photo editing.
The laptop has 256GB and 512GB SSD storage options with 8GB unified memory. It has Magic Keyboard and large Multi Touch Force Touch trackpad. Touch ID support is also available in the 512GB variant, through which biometric authentication and Apple Pay can be used.
The new affordable MacBook features a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, which comes with image processing optimizations. Dual microphone array has been provided for audio, which has directional beamforming technology, which helps in reducing background noise and isolating the user’s voice. Dual side firing speakers have been provided for sound output, which support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.
For connectivity, MacBook Neo has two USB C ports, which support charging, external display and accessory connectivity. Apart from this, 3.5mm headphone jack is also present. Wi Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 are supported for wireless connectivity. Talking about the battery, it has a 36.5Wh Lithium Polymer battery, which according to the company can provide backup of up to 16 hours of video streaming and about 11 hours of wireless web usage in one charge. A 20W USB C power adapter is available with it.
