Lowest number of deaths in road accidents in Delhi on Holi after 2019, four killed in 22 accidents

Delhi Road Accident: During the celebration of Holi this year, four people have lost their lives in road accidents in the national capital Delhi. This figure is the lowest number of deaths recorded on Holi since 2019, according to data released by the traffic police. According to data released on March 5, a total of 22 road accidents were recorded across the city on March 4. These included four fatal accidents and 18 minor accidents. A total of four people died in these accidents, while 18 people were injured.

Reduction in deaths compared to previous years

Police said the number of deaths this year is the lowest recorded on Holi in the last several years. In comparison, seven people died in road accidents on Holi in 2019, while nine deaths were recorded in 2020. In 2021, this number was reduced to five, but in 2022 and 2023 it increased to 10 each. The number of deaths was expected to rise to 14 in 2024, before falling to six last year and four this year.

A senior police officer said special enforcement drives were launched across the city to prevent accidents during the festival, increased deployment of personnel and checks against drunk driving. Teams were deployed at major intersections, main roads and areas with large Holi gatherings to monitor traffic movement and ensure that drivers follow safety norms.
