Resignation of Governor in West Bengal

Desk: Governor CV Anand has resigned from his post before the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal. During his visit to Delhi, he submitted his resignation to the President. Meanwhile, there is talk of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh also stepping down from the post. According to the information received, Tamil Nadu Governor CV Ravi has been temporarily given the charge of the Governor of West Bengal.

CV Anand’s tenure and reaction to resignation

CV Anand’s resignation before the West Bengal Assembly elections is being considered important from the political point of view. He told PTI that he has spent a lot of time in the governor’s office. CV Anand Bose was appointed Governor on November 23, 2002 and served in this post for about three years and five months.

CV Anand Bose remained vocal on many policies of the state during his tenure. He has continuously criticized the policies of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. During his tenure, conflict between the state and the governor increased over several issues.

Mamta Banerjee’s reaction

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, reacting to CV Anand’s resignation, said that she was surprised by this sudden development. He also said that it would not be a surprise if the Union Home Minister exerted pressure for political gain before the upcoming elections. He also mentioned that the Center should respect the principles of cooperative federalism and follow democratic traditions.
