Ayesha Khan recently shared her experience when she shot the dance track “Sharataka” during her periods for Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller “Dhurandhar”. This song gave him a lot of recognition, but along with it he also had to face trolling on social media. At the Mojo Story Summit, she opened up on the issues of body shaming, sexualization and rape threats. Ayesha said she was surprised how her ordinary experience became part of online memes.

In conversation with Barkha Dutt, Ayesha said, “Every day I am sexualized for my body on Instagram. If I wear a simple top, people have a problem. Same is the case when I wear a skirt. I have to think before posting anything.” She said that this situation is very sad when she is forced to think about her clothes.

When asked if she had received rape threats online, she said, “Yes, every day. I can show you on my phone, it’s very common.” Ayesha narrated a disturbing incident in her personal life, in which an attempt was made to rape her. “I don’t want to say too much about it, but it’s a wound I don’t want to reopen,” she said.

Ayesha told that a spot boy harassed her on the sets of a project. She said, “I was shooting for a film, and that day my father was also there. Suddenly I opened Instagram and saw a DM with voice notes. It was from some spot boy.”

Ayesha also told that during her college days, she got the second lead role in a song in T-Series, but when she was in 12th class, she was removed from the song a night before the shoot because people thought she was overweight.
