A senior public relations officer of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) said that at present women can travel free by taking pink ticket as before. According to the official, this system is not being stopped immediately. Women have been given enough time to get a new card made. However, the pink ticket system will be abolished after some time. After this, women will have to use only Pink Saheli smart card for free travel in buses.

When to get Pink Saheli Smart Card made?

‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’ may soon be made mandatory for free bus travel for women in Delhi. A senior public relations officer of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) said that at present women have been given time till May 31, 2026 to get this card made. According to the official, at present women can travel free in buses by taking pink tickets and this system is not being stopped immediately. But if there is no extension in the deadline, the Pink Ticket scheme may be completely discontinued from the beginning of June 2026. After this, women will get the benefit of free bus travel only through ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’. Women who do not have this card will have to buy normal tickets for bus travel.

Why will the government stop pink tickets?

The BJP government claims that there was massive corruption in the Pink Ticket Scheme implemented during the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government led by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Chief Minister said that for this reason the use of smart cards is being made mandatory in the new scheme, so that only eligible women will be able to avail the benefit of free travel and the possibility of misuse will be eliminated. To implement this scheme, the government has created around 50 registration centers in Delhi, where women can go and apply for their Pink Saheli Smart Card.

What documents are required to get the card made?

It has now become very easy for women to get ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’ made for free bus travel in Delhi. A senior public relations officer of Delhi Transport Corporation said that women can go to 50 registration centers established in different parts of the capital and get the card made. Women just have to bring their Aadhar card. There is no need to fill any form, register in advance or take an appointment. The process of making cards will be on first come, first served basis.

The rules regarding ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’ being made for free bus travel for women in Delhi have been clarified. Travel with Metro and Namo in India by bus

No recharge will be required to travel in the bus through ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’. Women can travel free in bus using this card. However, to travel in Metro and Namo Bharat through this card, women will have to pay the ticket price as before. The main facility is that women will not need to have separate cards for bus, metro and Namo Bharat. This means that a single card will provide travel facilities on all modes, which will make card management easy and convenient.
