Sunil Sharma reveals how his 7-Day Dhurandhar 2 role stretched to 35 days with Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar
Telugu actor Sunil Sharma, known for his roles in South Indian cinema, is making waves in Bollywood with a key part in the highly anticipated Dhurandhar 2. Playing Shaukat, the fierce henchman to Hamza, Sharma’s journey from a brief audition to a marathon 35-day shoot alongside Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar is nothing short of cinematic magic. In an exclusive chat with News 9, Sharma opens up about the surprises, stellar collaborations, and what made this his biggest Hindi film yet.
It all began at Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company. “I was there for a workshop when they called me for an audition,” Sharma recalls. “Mukesh sir handed me a script and said we’d test after two days. When I returned, my initial role was already cast. They offered another— a big one—but no dialogue guarantees. Details only on set, for 7-8 days. I said okay.”
But sets have a way of rewriting scripts. “Once I arrived, my work extended to 35 days,” he laughs. From sharing screen space with Akshaye Khanna in the first film, Sharma now locks horns with Ranveer Singh in the sequel. “Ranveer’s energy is infectious—even if you’re feeling low, he charges you up,” Sharma gushes. “No star vibes; he chats freely, motivates everyone. In action scenes, he’s careful, encourages co-actors so the whole frame pops. I never felt like a junior.”
Praising director Aditya Dhar, Sharma contrasts his South Indian roots—working with legends like Bapu sir and Krish—with this Hindi leap. “Aditya was superb. Simple, straightforward style. He explains characters and scenes clearly, bans overacting. He knows exactly what he wants and treats juniors like gold. Dhurandhar 2 is my biggest Hindi project—smooth from start to finish.”
Sharma expected a high-pressure Bollywood machine but found warmth. “Everyone is cooperative. Ranveer preps in his zone but stays aware. South to Hindi? Seamless.” As Dhurandhar 2 gears up, Sunil Sharma’s extended stint hints at more fireworks. Fans, brace for Shaukat’s menace.
