Nishant Kumar will join JDU, Nitish said – will continue working for Bihar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar is now entering politics. JDU confirmed on Friday that Nishant Kumar will join the party on Sunday, March 8. This is a big change in the politics of Bihar. Nitish Kumar has been speaking against nepotism for the last several years. He often accused RJD’s Lalu Prasad Yadav of nepotism but now his only son Nishant is entering politics.

Nitish Kumar filed nomination for Rajya Sabha on Thursday, March 5. This shows that he can now leave the post of Chief Minister and go to Delhi. He has been the Chief Minister of Bihar for more than 20 years. In 2025, NDA won a big victory and Nitish Kumar took oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time.

What did the party say?

Party leader Neeraj Kumar said that in the meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence, Union Minister Lalan Singh and MP Sanjay Jha suggested that Nishant Kumar be brought into the party. The party welcomed this suggestion. Nishant has also agreed. He will also undertake a political tour in the state after joining the party.

Party leaders said that everyone is saddened by Nitish’s decision to go to Rajya Sabha but the party is with him. Nitish has said that he will stay in Patna and continue guiding the party. He will fully cooperate with the new government for the development of Bihar.

Told- Holi gift

Some JD(U) leaders like Ashok Chaudhary and Shravan Kumar have described Nishant’s arrival as a ‘Holi gift’. Party workers for a long time wanted a successor from the family so that the base of the party remains strong.

Nishant Kumar has been keeping a low profile till now. He is a software engineer from BIT Mesra. Earlier he had said that he had no interest in politics. But now this decision has been taken keeping in mind Nitish’s health and the future of the party.

Speculation about making Deputy CM

Many people are speculating that Nishant may be made Deputy Chief Minister or may get a bigger responsibility in the party. This should ensure that there is no leadership void in the party.
