Iran’s warship personnel must be kept ‘prisoner’, Trump’s ‘guidelines’ in the Indian Ocean region

Sri Lanka has given ‘shelter’ to Iranian warships in the atmosphere of war, even though it claims to be neutral. Donald Trump is angry with this decision. According to sources, the US administration is already putting pressure on the Sri Lankan government. It has been made clear that the crew of the Iranian ship currently in Sri Lanka cannot be returned to Iran. However, nothing has been said about this officially from the two countries. According to sources, the Trump administration is in touch not only with Sri Lanka, but also with India on this issue.

The American torpedo hit the Iranian warship IRIS Dena, which was a guest for exercises with India. 87 people died. Various tensions started in the diplomatic circles around this incident on Wednesday. After that, it is known that another Iranian warship, IRINS Bushehr, arrived at Colombo port on Thursday. There are 208 people on that ship. Sri Lankan President Anura Dishanayake said IRINS Bushehr’s engine had malfunctioned. The ship has been sheltered in Sri Lanka on humanitarian grounds. Personnel were safely evacuated from the vessel.

Not only Sri Lanka, but India also has to follow the same path, the US administration claims. Howell also discussed with the Israeli ambassador in India.

According to the famous news agency Reuters, Jane Howell, who is in charge of the US Embassy in Colombo, is shaken after IRINS Bushehr anchored in Sri Lanka. He has been informed by the US administration that the surviving personnel of IRINS Bushehr or IRIS Dana cannot be returned to Iran. The US administration has made it clear that Sri Lanka must also ensure that Iran cannot use those prisoners to spread any propaganda.

Not only Sri Lanka, but India also has to follow the same path, the US administration claims. Howell also discussed with the Israeli ambassador in India. However, Tehran has appealed to Sri Lanka to hand over the remains of IRIS Dana to Iran. There is a question as to how fast Sri Lanka can do that in the face of US pressure. America claims that Sri Lanka will not be able to ‘release’ any Iranian warship or Iranian personnel until the conflict with Iran is resolved.
