Not Iran-Israel! These 6 countries have SLBM missiles!
New Delhi. The race for nuclear weapons is continuously increasing in the world. In modern military technology, such missiles have now been developed which can be fired even from submarines inside the sea. These are called SLBM. These missiles make the nuclear deterrence of a country extremely strong, because submarines remain hidden in the sea and it is difficult for the enemy to detect them.
In recent years, whenever tensions increase in the Middle East, the question often arises in people’s minds whether Iran or Israel has such capabilities. But the reality is that currently only a few countries in the world have SLBM technology.
1. America
America is considered to be at the forefront of this technology. US Navy nuclear submarines are equipped with advanced SLBM missiles like Trident-II. These missiles can accurately target targets located thousands of kilometers away.
2. Russia
Russia is also a big rival of America in this region. Missiles like Bulava and Sineva, launched from its submarines, are an important part of its nuclear three-pronged strategy.
3. China
China has rapidly expanded its naval power in the last decade. Its JL-2 and new JL-3 missiles can be launched from submarines, further strengthening China’s strategic capability.
4. France
France is also among the few countries in Europe that have SLBM capability. French Navy submarines are armed with M51 missiles, which are capable of carrying long-range nuclear warheads.
5. Britain
The mainstay of Britain’s nuclear strategy is also missiles launched from submarines. The British Navy’s Vanguard-class submarines use the Trident system.
6. India
India has also become a member of this exclusive club. Indian Navy has successfully test fired indigenous SLBM missiles like K-15 Sagarika and K-4. These missiles strengthen India’s nuclear three-tier security system.
strategic importance
SLBM missiles play an important role in giving “second strike” to any country. This means that even if a country gets a nuclear attack first, it can still retaliate with submarines hidden in the sea.
