Land mafia eyes the house of Sonbhadra disabled couple, after 28 years Uttam Divyang Seva Sansthan opens front demanding Rs 8 lakh
bureau report
Obra (Cat Markundi) / Sonbhadra-
A serious case that puts humanity to shame has come to light from the Cat railway station area of Sonbhadra district. Here a poor and physically handicapped couple, who have been living in their house for the last 28 years, are today on the verge of becoming homeless due to the harassment of land mafia. Now social organizations have also raised their voice against this injustice. According to the applicant Rampujan Vishwakarma, his father Rajendra Vishwakarma had purchased the land from local resident Late Ravi Malhotra in the year 1998 by paying ₹ 20,000 in cash. Late Malhotra had then assured that build the house now and get the registration done later.
After years of procrastination, Ravi Malhotra died in 2004. Now his son Rahul Malhotra has started making illegal demand of ₹ 8,00,000 from the applicant by getting the land in his name on the basis of the will. Rampujan and his wife are completely handicapped in both legs. It is alleged that when she told about her financial helplessness, Rahul Malhotra crossed the limits of insensitivity and asked her to go to the roadside and beg.
The applicant alleges that he is constantly being threatened with eviction from the house, due to which the family is under deep mental stress. Uttam Divyang Seva Sansthan has lodged a strong protest regarding this matter. Under the leadership of the institute’s founder Uttam Singh, dozens of members submitted a memorandum to the ADM on the occasion of Samadhan Diwas in Obra tehsil. This demand was raised under the leadership of the state vice president of the institute, Shiv Pujan Vishwakarma.
Many members of the organization including Santosh Kumar, Bhuneshwar Devgan, Alok Kumar, Neetu Kumari, Naveen Prajapati were present in this fight for justice. Uttam Divyang Seva Sansthan clearly said that it is the moral and legal responsibility of the administration to save the 28 years old disabled family from the clutches of land mafia.
After investigating the land dispute, the deed and mutation in the name of the applicant should be ensured. Police protection should be given to the disabled family by taking legal action against those issuing threats. Considering the poverty of the applicant, a lawyer should be provided from the District Legal Services Authority.
The victim’s family should get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana on this land. On one hand, the government is raising the slogan of empowerment of disabled people, while on the other hand, this case of Sonbhadra puts a question mark on the functioning of the administration. Now all eyes are on the District Magistrate and the Obara administration to see whether they will be able to provide justice to this disabled couple or will bullying prevail.
