Tezzbuzz Desk – On Saturday, Droupadi Murmu expressed displeasure over West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her visit to Bagdogra and Bidhannagar in Siliguri. The President said that she was not allowed to come to the venue of the event even though she, being a daughter of Bengal, wanted to attend the event in the state.

Disruptions and frequent changes at the venue

The President attended the 9th International Santhal Council Conference at Gonshaipur in Siliguri Subdivision. Although the venue was initially fixed at Bidhannagar, the venue was changed four times due to security reasons and administrative problems. The effect of this was that many invitees could not attend the meeting because they did not get security passes.

The President stood up on the stage, pointed to the empty chairs in the audience and said, “Why are there so many empty chairs? I understand that someone is obstructing.” After this he left the meeting place and visited Bidhannagar.

Called Mamata Banerjee ‘like my younger sister’

The President said, “I wanted to hold a meeting in this area, there was enough space, but why did the state government not allow me? Mamata is like my younger sister, but perhaps for some reason she is angry with me.” During his visit, the President inspected the entire area and also planted Sal trees at pre-determined places.

Administrative customs and security reasons
