News India Live, Digital Desk: During his two-day visit to Kerala, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has given a big statement on the film ‘The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond’. Interacting with students at Marian College in Kuttikkanam in Idukki district, Rahul Gandhi termed the film as a ‘propaganda tool’ and claimed that the aim of such films is to create hatred and division in the society.

“The good news of empty theaters”

When a student asked Rahul Gandhi a question on films being used as a medium of propaganda, he directly referred to ‘The Kerala Story 2’. Rahul said, “The good news is that the theaters of ‘Kerala Story 2’ are empty and no one is watching it. This shows that most of the people of this country understand the real traditions and culture of Kerala and they are rejecting the politics of hate.”

Accusation of making films and media ‘weapons’

Targeting the central government and related ideologies, Rahul Gandhi said that in today’s era, films, television and media are being used as ‘weaponised’.

Conspiracy to defame: According to him, these mediums are being used to defame people, isolate them from society and widen the gap between communities so that certain people can take political advantage of it.

Attack on freedom of speech: Rahul also alleged that if someone wants to express his views independently or make a different kind of film, he is attacked, while huge amounts of money are being spent to spread stories with a particular agenda.

Rahul’s experience on Kerala culture

Former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi praised the people of Kerala and said that he has learned a lot from the people here. Referring to the recent landslide tragedy, he told how the people of Kerala helped each other without any discrimination. According to Rahul, “This is the real story of Kerala, solidarity and compassion, and not what is shown in films.”

Condition of the film at the box office

Let us tell you that ‘The Kerala Story 2’ was released on 27 February 2026.
