How is the US using AI in the Iran war? Attacks on 1,000 targets
Desk: The US recently used artificial intelligence (AI) technology in attacks against Iran. According to reports, the US and its ally Israel targeted nearly 1,000 targets in just 24 hours. The accuracy of these attacks was made possible by the use of AI. This operation used an AI model called Cloud, developed by the American company Anthropic.
This technology speeds up the entire process from target identification to attack. This process is known as the kill chain in military terms. It is reported that the US military also used this AI technology in the January operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. However, Anthropic opposed this. The company stated that according to its regulations, cloud AI cannot be used for purposes such as violence, weapon development, or surveillance.
This angered US President Donald Trump. He ordered the termination of all government contracts with Anthropic, calling it a radical left-wing AI company. However, the US Department of Defense was unable to immediately find a replacement AI system, so the technology continued to be used for some time. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that Anthropic would continue to provide services to the Department for the next six months, allowing for a smooth transition to another AI system during this time.
With the help of AI, the US launched nearly 900 missiles against Iranian targets in the first 12 hours of the war. The US military uses this AI technology through a partnership between Anthropic and the warfare technology company Palantir. This technology is embedded in Palantir’s Maven smart system. This system analyzes confidential data from satellites and surveillance and provides the military with instant target information.
