CM Mamata Banerjee’s big counterattack on President Draupadi Murmu’s statement, said- ‘You are trapped in BJP’s agenda’

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has reacted sharply to the controversy surrounding a program related to President Draupadi Murmu. She clearly said that she fully respects the post of President, but it is not possible for any Chief Minister to attend every program. Mamata Banerjee said that even if a person comes to the state 50 times, it is not practical to attend every event.

What did Chief Minister Mamata say?

The Chief Minister said that he had no prior knowledge about the program which was being discussed. She said that at present she is sitting on dharna and the information related to the event being mentioned was not conveyed to the state government. Mamata Banerjee says that whenever the President comes to the state or is on an official visit, generally the state government is informed about it. But neither the state administration was informed about this international conference in advance nor was the government associated with the event.

Mamata Banerjee also said that the state government had no role in any aspect related to the organization, financing or management of that event. He says that if the government was aware of this then necessary arrangements and protocols would definitely have been ensured.

Targeted at BJP

During this, the Chief Minister also targeted BJP. He said that he is saddened to say that the President is allegedly being used to further the political agenda of the BJP. Mamata Banerjee alleges that BJP’s priority is political gains, while her government’s focus is only on the interests of the people of the state.

He also raised some questions to the President. Mamata Banerjee said that when incidents of violence against the tribal community came to light in Manipur, why was there no strong reaction from the President. Apart from this, she also mentioned the cases of alleged atrocities against tribals in Rajasthan and Maharashtra and asked why questions were not raised on those incidents.

The Chief Minister also said that this kind of politics should be avoided before the elections. He says that the state government did not try to stop any event nor did it have any direct connection with that event.

Why did Draupadi Murmu express his displeasure?

Actually, President Draupadi Murmu had come to attend the 9th International Santhal Conference organized in West Bengal. During this, he had expressed his displeasure over the smallness of the venue. He had also said that as per the prescribed protocol, no Chief Minister or any minister of the state government was present to welcome him. However, he also clarified that he personally has no objection to this, but it is necessary to follow the protocol prescribed for the President of the country.
