Decision to attack Iran after Modi leaves Israel: Israeli minister
Desk: Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not be informed in advance about the airstrikes on Iran because the decision to take military action was taken after the conclusion of his recent visit. Prime Minister Modi had made a two-day visit to Israel, which ended on February 26. Two days later, Israel and the US launched a joint military strike against Iran that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Participating in the Raisina Dialogue digitally, Gideon Saar said that Israel has “very good relations” with Modi and India, which have deepened in the last few years. He said, “But we could not inform Prime Minister Modi about this because the decision was taken on Saturday morning.” Saar indicated that the decision to launch the attack was taken due to the failure of talks between the US and Iran. Saar said that Iran’s nuclear program continues, it is developing ballistic missiles and is supporting Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis. He said that perhaps we will see a change of regime in Iran.
