Indian team will set out to create history in Ahmedabad, will Kiwis stand in front of Surya Sena?

The time has come for the great match of ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Today the final match is to be played between India and New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Team India will go to defend its title. New Zealand is eyeing winning the World Cup for the first time. The Kiwi team has made it to the final for the second time in the T20 World Cup history by crushing the title contender South African team in a one-sided manner in the first semi-final.

New Zealand had traveled to the title match in 2021, where it lost to Australia. On the other hand, this is the fourth final of the Indian team. Team India has entered the title match with a thrilling 7-run victory over England in the second semi-final match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Indian team has captured the trophy in 2007 and 2024. Whereas in the 2014 finals he had to face defeat. Suryakumar Yadav would like to make this final record 3-1.

Will history be made under Surya’s captaincy?

Till date in the history of T20 World Cup, no host team has been able to win the title. Apart from this, no team has been able to become champion twice consecutively. Under the captaincy of Surya, the Indian team would like to create history by breaking both these myths. For this, Team India will have to perform better with the bat as well as the ball.

Except Jasprit Bumrah, all the bowlers are going expensive. Especially Varun Chakraborty has lost his edge. Kuldeep Yadav can be given a chance in his place. Kuldeep has played only one match in this tournament. The team management will have to take a tough decision to bring him into the playing XI, because Varun has been a part of the plan for a long time.

What will change in Kiwi?

New Zealand’s batting order is settled. Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner may think of playing Jacob Duffy in place of Jimmy Neesham. Neesham was played in the semi-final match but he was not needed that much. The New Zealand team may prefer Duffy over Neesham to strengthen its bowling.

Probable playing XI of both the teams:

India – Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan, Tilak Verma, Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakraborty/Kuldeep Yadav/Mohammed Siraj.

New Zealand – Tim Seifert (wk), Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner (c), Cole McConchie, Jimmy Neesham/Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson
