Bharat Petroleum Speed 100: New Zero Ethanol Fuel Tested [Video]
A lot of people, despite the mandatory rollout of E20 or 20 percent ethanol-blended petrol by the Government of India, refuse to use it for their vehicles. Now, if you are someone who also only uses E0 petrol, then there is good news for you. Recently, Bharat Petroleum has introduced its 0 percent ethanol-blended fuel, which is called the Speed 100, and now a video testing its purity has been shared online.
Bharat Petroleum’s Speed 100 fuel test
This video of the Bharat Petroleum Speed 100’s ethanol percentage testing has been shared on YouTube by The Rider’s teeth on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that he has come to the Bharat Petroleum fuel pump in Bangalore, which currently offers the newly launched Speed 100 0 percent ethanol-blended petrol.
He highlights that currently only eight cities in India have pumps which offer the Speed 100 fuel. However, there are plans to make the Speed 100 available in more cities and outlets. Following this, he then takes his Bajaj Dominar 400 for a fuel refill and completely fills its tank with the Speed 100 fuel. Additionally, he also buys 500 ml of Speed 100 in a water bottle to test the purity of the fuel and the claim of 0 percent ethanol blending.
Ethanol percentage check
Following the introduction, the vlogger then reaches his home, where along with Bharat Petroleum’s Speed 100 fuel, he also had a sample of Indian Oil Corporation’s XP100 0 percent ethanol-blended petrol as well. The fuels in both bottles looked exactly the same, with a deep orange hue. He then mentions that earlier the XP100 was priced at Rs 160 per litre, and it has now been priced at Rs 149 per litre. As for the Speed 100, it is priced at Rs 151 per litre.
The vlogger mentions that a few people wanted to know if the price reduction of XP100 is due to the mixing of ethanol. Hence, he has arranged the ethanol blending test to make sure that the XP100 is the same as before. Following which, he then prepares a green solution with water and green food coloring to conduct the test.

He first pours 25 ml of green-colored water into the measuring flask and then adds 75 ml of XP100 and then transfers it to a mixing bottle. The presenter then vigorously shakes the bottle and then empties it back into the flask and lets it settle. For those who may not be aware, if the percentage of water in the flask increases, then the percent of ethanol blended in it can be calculated.
Soon after this, the person repeats the same process with the Bharat Petroleum Speed 100 fuel and then leaves it to settle. Finally, he highlights that the water level in both flasks is 25 ml, which means that there has been no percentage of ethanol blending in the fuels.
What are the benefits of using 0 percent ethanol-blended petrol?

The vlogger in the video has highlighted that he owns both a Kawasaki Z900 and a Bajaj Dominar 400, and for the last few months he has only been using 0 percent ethanol-blended petrol. And according to him, his bikes have been performing flawlessly. Meanwhile, his friends who also own high-end bikes have even suffered engine problems, injector problems, and problems with the fuel pump and other fuel system components.
