People’s government will be formed in Gujarat, we will change the system and end corruption: Kejriwal attacks BJP-Congress

Arvind Kejriwal: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the BJP and Congress on Sunday during the “Bring Change, Save Farmers Yatra” rally in Gujarat. At the rally in Gandhinagar, he called on the people of Gujarat to overthrow the BJP, which has been in power for 30 years. He stated that this time, a people’s government will be formed in Gujarat and will make its own decisions. He emphasized that we need not just to change the party, but to change the entire system for Gujarat’s progress. If the AAP forms the government, the first step will be to end the hooliganism and corruption of politicians and put those who loot Gujarat in jail. He stated that only BJP and Congress leaders are making progress in Gujarat. When it comes to appointing a BCCI chairman, they appoint their own sons. After all, what qualities does Jay Shah possess that our youth lack?

Arvind Kejriwal said that for the past 10-12 days, Yash Bhai, Praveen Ram, and Manoj Sorathia have visited Lord Somnath and led a Kisan Yatra through villages and neighborhoods to Gandhinagar. During this journey, they met thousands of farmers and found that Gujarat’s farmers are suffering and crying tears of blood everywhere. There is no drinking water, no irrigation water, prices of everything have risen, and farmers are not even receiving the full price for their crops. He said that the BJP has been in power in Gujarat for 30 years, but they have done nothing. Today, every child in Gujarat is saying that this is a corrupt government that is looting Gujarat. Anyone who raises their voice against the government is arrested, implicated in false cases, and put in jail.

BJP government cornered over Botad incident

Referring to the Botad incident, Arvind Kejriwal said that a few days ago, farmers there were peacefully protesting against the Karda system and were not resorting to any violence. However, the oppressive BJP government barged into the farmers’ homes, dragged them out, insulted them, and jailed them. The farmers’ wives, mothers, and children cried bitterly, but the BJP government remained unmoved and kept 85 farmers in jail for several months. While ordinary people were celebrating Diwali, their farmers were suffering in jail, and their families were crying.

Arvind Kejriwal said that this is not just about 85 farmers, but through this the BJP wants to send a message to the farmers of entire Gujarat that if anyone raises their voice, they too will face the same fate. He asked the public whether they will tolerate this atrocity or raise their voice against it. The BJP is openly insulting and humiliating the farmers. This time, in every election, every farmer has to take an oath that they will vote for anyone, but not the BJP. The lotus has to be uprooted from Gujarat, the lotus should not be voted for at all and every farmer has to take this oath this time.

Politicians jailed for raising NREGA corruption charges

Arvind Kejriwal questioned, “What’s wrong with Chaitan Vasava? There’s rampant corruption in NREGA. These people embezzle public funds, write anything in fake books, and steal money in people’s names. Chaitan Vasava raised the voice of the people, and that’s why he was arrested and imprisoned. Praveen Ram raised the voice of the farmers, and he was also arrested and imprisoned. They didn’t spare me either, and they arrested and imprisoned me. In India’s 75-year history, it’s never happened that a sitting Chief Minister of Delhi has been imprisoned for six months. I was accused of embezzling 100 crore rupees and of a liquor scam. It was also alleged that Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, and Sanjay Singh were involved in a liquor scam, and thus, five of the Aam Aadmi Party’s most prominent leaders were arrested and imprisoned.”

Arvind Kejriwal said that in Delhi, he was dragged from his home in the dark of night and thrown into jail. Raids were conducted at his home, bank, office, and everywhere, but not a single penny was found. Similarly, raids were conducted at the homes of Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, but not a single penny was found there either. He questioned, “Where did those 100 crore rupees go?” Now, a court order has come, stating that a case against Kejriwal is untenable; there is no evidence and no witnesses. The BJP says Kejriwal is a thief, but the court says Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party, and its leaders are staunchly honest.”

BJP’s allegations are false, there is no evidence: Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal said that the court has ruled that the BJP and its allegations are false and that there is not enough evidence to prosecute. He said that he has not been acquitted, as acquittals are usually granted after a trial. Here, the court has ruled that there is not even enough evidence to prosecute. Calling it a grave atrocity, he said that if a sitting Chief Minister can be arrested and imprisoned, what is the status of ordinary citizens? These people will imprison anyone, including farmers and businessmen, with false cases. They simply keep everyone in fear, doing nothing else.

Arvind Kejriwal said that previously, Delhi was in a similar situation to Gujarat. There were only two parties in Delhi, the Congress and the BJP, and people were fed up with their collusion. Then, the people decided to overthrow these two parties and form their own government. In 2015, the public voted for the broom, forming their own government and making me Chief Minister. I am a common man; no one in my family (father, uncle, maternal uncle, maternal grandfather) is a leader. I did whatever the public asked. When the public asked, I made electricity and water free, provided 24-hour power supply, improved poor government schools, and made treatment free for everyone in Delhi by building government hospitals and Mohalla Clinics.

Arvind Kejriwal said that when the public complained about being humiliated and demanded money by Patwaris in government offices and tehsils, he stopped going to government offices altogether. He issued a phone number. Calling that number would prompt officers to come to homes and complete their work. In Delhi, the government was run according to the public’s wishes, whether it was repairing a street or a road. Delhi had become completely ruled by the people.

Demand to implement Punjab model in Gujarat

Arvind Kejriwal further said that the people of Punjab then defeated the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, and BJP, forming a government for the common man and electing Bhagwant Mann, a farmer’s son, as Chief Minister. Following public demand, electricity for agriculture was made free, allowing farmers to use as much as they desired. Furthermore, household electricity was also made free. Now, farmers in Punjab receive 10 hours of continuous electricity during the day, instead of just at night, and irrigation water has been delivered to every farm. He shared the good news that the Punjab budget was released today, and every woman will receive ₹1,000 per month. This should happen in Gujarat as well.

Arvind Kejriwal said that this is why I was jailed because last time the people of Gujarat elected five MLAs from the Aam Aadmi Party. The BJP believed that if this continued, the Aam Aadmi Party would form the government in 2027. To stop Kejriwal, a conspiracy was hatched involving a liquor scam and the embezzlement of 100 crore rupees. Our leaders were jailed with 200 false cases against them. By putting me in jail, the BJP secretly seized power in Delhi.

Only politicians are making progress in Gujarat

Arvind Kejriwal questioned the BJP’s claims, saying that these people travel around the country claiming that Gujarat is making great progress, but in reality, neither farmers are prospering nor youth are finding employment. Only BJP and Congress leaders are prospering, who have amassed wealth through theft and joint business ventures. No one—farmers, youth, women, businessmen, or industrialists—is progressing.

Arvind Kejriwal said that a poor farmer sells his land and jewelry, works hard day and night to save money, and sends his child to study in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, or Rajkot. But when the child studies hard and goes to take the exam, the paper is leaked. How can this happen? I served as Chief Minister of Delhi for 10 years, and not a single paper was leaked there. Our government has been in power in Punjab for five years, and not a single paper has been leaked there either. But in Gujarat, papers are leaked every day. BJP members themselves leak the papers. How can a government that can’t conduct the exam properly run? These people don’t jail those who leak the papers, but instead jail farmers (Kheduts), Chaitar Vasava, and Praveen Ram.

Allegations of open sale of liquor and drugs in Gujarat

Arvind Kejriwal said, “These people claim there’s prohibition in Gujarat. But alcohol is sold openly, and home delivery is available throughout Gujarat with a phone call. All this money goes to them. These people don’t provide employment to young people, but instead supply them with spurious liquor and drug packets. Today, there’s no school or college where drugs aren’t being sold, and these people are the ones who are selling it. The BJP government doesn’t arrest those selling drugs and spurious liquor, but instead jails those who speak out for farmers and youth.”

Arvind Kejriwal said that the 2027 elections require not just a change of party, but a change of the entire system. Elections come every five years, and leaders fold their hands, hold feet, feed children, pose for photographs, and make big promises. But once the elections are over, they reduce the public to beggars, humiliate them, and when they go home, they let loose dogs or don’t even open the door. We follow them around, but they don’t understand us. After elections, these people only make money. There are many MLAs in Gujarat who have wealth exceeding 100 crore rupees; those who used to travel on scooters till yesterday, today they own big cars and palaces. All this money is stolen. After winning elections, these leaders only benefit their children, relatives, and friends.

BCCI chairman accused of nepotism

Arvind Kejriwal further said that Prime Minister Modi wanted to appoint him as the chairman of the Cricket Board (BCCI). There are 40 crore youth in the country and 2 crore in Gujarat, many of whom play cricket very well and have knowledge of the game, but the Prime Minister did not see these youth and appointed Amit Shah’s son as the chairman. When it comes to appointing the BCCI chairman, it’s my son, my nephew. When it comes to seeking votes, they come to the public. Why weren’t children of the common people appointed? Was there something lacking in them? There must be someone among the 2 crore youth who could have become the BCCI chairman. What special quality does Jay Shah possess that he became the BCCI chairman?

Arvind Kejriwal further said that even when the chairman of international cricket was to be appointed, Jay Shah was appointed. At least another young person from Gujarat could have been given the opportunity. These people only give MLA and ministerial tickets to their own children and relatives, not to the children of the general public. Why don’t our children get tickets? Is there something wrong with our children? We are fools who follow them around. He appealed to the people of Gujarat to change this system this time and form a government that truly represents the people.

‘Tickets for children of the public, not of politicians’

Arvind Kejriwal further stated that he doesn’t give tickets to his children. He has two children, and they are doing their own work. He will never give tickets to his children, and they will never enter politics. Citing the example of AAP leaders in Gujarat, he said that Isudan Gadhvi was a journalist and none of his ancestors or even distant relatives are politicians. Similarly, Chaitar Vasava comes from a humble and ordinary family and has no political relatives. Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia held a low-level job in the police. He also has no political relatives. All AAP leaders, including Hemant Khawa, Sagar Bhai, Praveen Bhai, Brijbhushan Bhai, and Brijraj Bhai, are ordinary Gujaratis, children of ordinary Gujarat, from ordinary Gujarati families, and children of the people. He promised that when elections come and we give tickets, we will give tickets to the children of the people, not to the children of politicians.

Arvind Kejriwal urged people to tell their children to join the Aam Aadmi Party, as their children will receive tickets. Only children of the people will become Panchayat members, Sarpanchs, Zila Parishad members, MLAs, Ministers, or Chief Ministers. This time, the people’s government will be formed in the elections. Appealing to the people to form their own government, he said, “No party will form the government; this time, it will be the people’s government, your government, and the government will function as the people say.” This time, the BJP will not form a triple-engine government, but rather a multiple-engine government. Farmers, businessmen, women, and youth will be its engines, thus creating a multiple-engine government. This time, there will be many engines; the entire Gujarat and its 60 million people will be its engines, and they will take Gujarat on the path of progress.

The people’s government will end corruption and hooliganism.

Arvind Kejriwal said that when the people’s government is formed, the first thing he will do is stop the hooliganism of these leaders. He will end their corruption, teach them a lesson, and arrest those who have looted Gujarat and put them in jail. He will hold them accountable for the entire 30 years. When the people’s government is formed, the common man will be respected. When people go to office, they will be respected, their voices will be heard, and their work will be done. Whatever the people say will be done, and the government will act on their orders.

Arvind Kejriwal said that in Bihar, the BJP gave 1,000 acres of land worth billions of rupees to a billionaire for one rupee. If a farmer asks them to give him two acres of land for one rupee, they won’t give it to him or the farmers. But when the people’s government is formed, not the billionaires, but the farmers will get the land for one rupee, and work will be done for the people. Did the BJP and Congress not give anything?
