Mumbai Pune Expressway : Mumbai
Mumbai Pune Expressway : Two important cities in Maharashtra are Pune and Mumbai. The Mumbai Pune Expressway connecting these two cities is one of the most important highways in the state. The Mumbai Pune Expressway also plays a major role in the economic and industrial development of Maharashtra. Thousands of trains travel through this route every day. Industries, IT companies, tourism and thousands of commuters depend on this route. However, due to the increase in the number of vehicles in the last few years, the traffic stress on this expressway has also increased. Therefore, the government has planned to make this highway even bigger.
The idea of the Maharashtra government is that this expressway, which is currently 8 lanes, should be made 10 lanes. This mega project is expected to cost approximately Rs 16,000 crore. The total length of the highway is about 94.6 km and is planned to be extended keeping in view the increased traffic in the future. Mumbai Pune Expressway
After the completion of the technical examination, the proposal will be placed before the State Cabinet chaired by the Chief Minister for approval. Actual work will start only after approval. This entire project may take around 4 years to complete. A detailed project report of the scheme has already been submitted to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). According to officials, around Rs 200 crore will be required for land acquisition for this expansion.
After the 10-laning of the highway, it is expected that traffic will be smoother, traffic jams will be reduced and travel will be safer and faster. Hence, the journey between Pune and Mumbai is likely to become more convenient in the future.
