Haryana: Encounter of absconding accused in Haryana, shot in the leg in retaliatory firing

Haryana News: The accused, who was absconding from Ding police station in Sirsa district of Haryana, had an encounter with the police in Fatehabad district. In this encounter with the Ratia CIA team, the accused opened fire on the police, in which an ASI was hit by two bullets. However, his life was saved due to him wearing a bulletproof jacket. In retaliatory firing by the police, the accused was shot in the leg, after which he was arrested in an injured condition.

The injured accused was first taken to Ratia Civil Hospital, where after first aid he was referred to Agroha Medical College.

Ding had absconded from the police station

According to the information, accused Mahendra Singh alias Nikka was brought to Ding police station on a production warrant from Bhiwani jail 23 days ago in a theft case. He was on police remand for two days.

The police were taking him to present him in the court. Meanwhile, he made an excuse of going to the bathroom and took advantage of the opportunity to dodge the home guard and escaped.

Ratia CIA had received information

According to the police, Ratia CIA team had received information that Mahendra Singh alias Nikka, resident of Azad Nagar, Fatehabad, was about to come to Ratia area. After this, the team led by CIA in-charge Pradeep Kumar blocked the roads coming from Punjab to Ratia to catch him.

Meanwhile, ASI Raghubir Singh’s team saw him coming on a motorcycle near Bhakra Canal Bridge Nangal.

Try to run away after seeing the police

The police signaled him to stop, but the accused tried to run away by turning the motorcycle. Meanwhile, due to concrete on the road, his bike slipped and he fell down.

Four rounds fired at police

According to DSP Kulwant Singh, as soon as he fell from the bike, the accused fired four consecutive rounds at the police team to avoid arrest. Of these, two bullets hit the bulletproof jacket of ASI Raghubir Singh, while two bullets passed nearby.

The ASI’s life was saved because he had a bulletproof jacket. After this the police retaliated, in which the bullet fired hit the leg of the accused and he was injured.

.32 bore pistol recovered

The police team caught the accused on the spot. An illegal .32 bore pistol, four empty shells and two live cartridges were recovered from him.

Also accused in woman murder case

Mahendra Singh alias Nikka is also the main accused in the case of murder of a woman in Gurunanakpura Chowki area. It is alleged that he, along with his two associates, raped a woman resident of Ratia and later murdered her due to fear of blackmailing. The police have already arrested a minor accused in this case.

18 cases registered in two states

According to police records, a total of 18 cases are registered against accused Mahendra Singh alias Nikka in two states. Apart from Nimrana police station of Alwar district of Rajasthan, cases are registered under different sections in various police stations of Hansi, Sirsa, Bhiwani and Fatehabad districts of Haryana.

The accused was hiding in Punjab

According to the police, the accused was hiding in Punjab for a long time. He was also planning to take his wife to Punjab. He was coming to Fatehabad for this purpose, but before that the police arrested him after an encounter.
