Director Yugi reveals Kamal Haasan earns $2 million per day for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ shoot
Indian filmmaker and politician Kamal Haasan reportedly played a larger role in the upcoming sequel to the 2024 film Kalki 2898 announcement.
Filmmaker Yugi Sethu revealed that Haasan earned$ 1 million per day for the first film, but later corrected the figure to$ 2 million per day after speaking with the producer.
Yugi Sethu said, “Kamal sir’s stature is such. He was paid ₹ 150 crore for 20 days of work. I told him on his birthday that he was the highest- paid actor in India at$ 1 million per day. He corrected me, saying it was only 10 days, so the actual pay was $2 million per day.”
Earlier reports suggested that Haasan had received over ₹100 crore for his role in Kalki 2898 AD. In the film, he played Supreme Yaskin, a god-king ruling over the Complex. The first film ended hinting that Haasan would have more screen time in the sequel.
Last month, Amitabh Bachchan shared photos from the set of Kalki 2898 AD 2where he reunited with Kamal Haasan after 40 years.
Bachchan wrote on his blog, “And meeting up with the great Kamal Haasan. we shall be working together after periods. last in Geraftaar.” The prints showed the actors laughing and hugging each other, while Bachchan also appeared in heavy prosthetic makeup for the shoot.
Kalki 2898 ADdirected by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, is a mythological science fiction film released in 2024.
The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. Inspired by Hindu scriptures, the story is set in the year 2898 AD in Kashi and follows a group on a mission to protect an unborn child believed to be Kalki, the final incarnation of Vishnu.
