Ahmedabad, 9 March 2026: Indian cricket team has created history by winning the T20 World Cup 2026. After winning the title for the second consecutive time by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, the Indian captain and management had come to seek blessings from God. After becoming the world champion, Captain Suryakumar Yadav, Head Coach Gautam Gambhir, ICC President Jai Shah and BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia reached the Hanuman Temple in Ahmedabad and offered prayers.
After becoming the world champion, Captain Suryakumar Yadav reached the temple with the winning trophy. The rituals were performed by the priests of the temple and the team was blessed. With this victory, Team India has established many new records in the cricket world. It has become the first team in the world to win the T20 World Cup three times. Has made a record of winning the T20 World Cup title twice in a row. Has become the first country to win the T20 World Cup on its own soil.
In the final match, New Zealand captain Mitchell Centner won the toss and chose to field first. However, Indian batsmen proved this decision wrong and scored a huge score of 255 runs for 5 wickets. Chasing the target of 256 runs, the entire New Zealand team was all out for just 159 runs in 19 overs.
Sanju Samson, who performed consistently throughout the tournament, was declared Player of the Series. Apart from scoring 89 runs in the final, he played an important role in India’s victory by scoring 97 runs against West Indies and 89 runs in the semi-final against England.
