Newly elected members of Nepal’s Federal Parliament were sworn in.

Kathmandu. The newly elected members of the Federal Parliament of Nepal were administered the oath of office and secrecy by National Assembly Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal in Singhdarbar on Monday in accordance with Section 2 of Article 86 of the Constitution of Nepal. After the oath taking ceremony, Speaker Dahal presented the official emblem of the Parliament and wished him a successful tenure.

There are a total of 59 members in the National Assembly. According to the constitutional provision, one-third of its members are elected every two years. Elections for 18 seats of the National Assembly were held on 25 January. In these elections new members have been elected from different provinces. Roshni Meche, Somnath Portel and Sunil Bahadur Thapa were elected from Kosi region. Rekha Kumari Jha, Dharmendra Paswan, Ranjit Karna and Mahanth Thakur were elected from Madhesh state.

Similarly, Geeta Devkota and Prem Prasad Dangal were elected from Bagmati state. Jagat Timilsina and Yadukta Devkota won from Gandaki region. Ram Kumari Jhanki, Chandrabahadur KC and Vasudev Ghimire were elected from Lumbini region. Meena Singh Rakhal and Lalit Jung Shahi were elected from Karnali Pradesh, while Leela Kumari Bhandari and Khamb Bahadur Khati from Sudurpaschim Pradesh have become members of the National Assembly.
