Jaishankar gave information on West Asia crisis, discussion on removal of speaker also –
K News Desktop- The second phase of the budget session of Parliament started in a very noisy atmosphere on Monday. With the beginning of the session, there was a heated argument between the ruling party and the opposition. During this, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar informed both the Houses of Parliament – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – about the current situation in West Asia and the steps taken by the Indian Government there.
During his address in the Rajya Sabha, Jaishankar presented the government’s side on the ongoing tension in West Asia and the situation arising out of Iran’s confrontation with America and Israel. He said that under the current circumstances it is very difficult to establish direct contact with the top leadership of Iran. During the statement of the Foreign Minister, opposition MPs raised slogans in protest, which created an uproar in the House.
After the Rajya Sabha, in the Lok Sabha also, Jaishankar informed about the deteriorating situation in West Asian countries and the diplomatic efforts related to it. He said that the Indian government is constantly monitoring the situation in the region and necessary steps are being taken to protect Indian interests.
Meanwhile, the proposal brought by the opposition to remove Speaker Om Birla is also likely to be discussed in the Lok Sabha. Opposition parties allege that the Speaker adopted a partisan attitude during the proceedings of the House and did not give adequate opportunity to several opposition leaders, including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, to speak.
After the notice of no-confidence motion was given, Om Birla had recused himself from presiding over the proceedings of the Lok Sabha. According to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, he will again preside over the proceedings of the House only after the final decision on this proposal is taken.
At the same time, the results of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list before the upcoming elections in West Bengal can also become an issue of political controversy in the Parliament. According to reports, around 60 lakh names have been removed from the voter list during this process. Opposition parties may demand answers from the government regarding this issue, due to which there is a possibility of further uproar in the proceedings of Parliament.
