UP government’s decision, the process of getting a new electricity connection simplified

News Desk. Now getting a new electricity connection in Uttar Pradesh has become much easier than before. To provide relief to rural and urban consumers, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has implemented a new system. The objective of this new system is to make the process of getting electricity connection transparent and simple, so that people do not have to visit offices again and again and can get the connection quickly.

Separate line estimate will not be made till 300 meters

Under the new system, now a separate line estimate will not be prepared for taking a new connection at a distance of up to 300 meters from the nearest electricity pole. Earlier, consumers had to wait for a long time to get the line estimate made, which caused delay in the process of getting the connection. Now, simplifying the entire process, the total cost has been fixed through metering charge and supply affording charge. This will save consumers both time and effort.

Fees fixed according to different loads

As per UPPCL, metering charges for single phase LT connections have been determined based on load. The metering charge for one kilowatt connection of Lifeline category has been fixed at approximately Rs 1855. A fee of around Rs 3655 has been fixed for a connection of one to two kilowatts. For a connection of three to four kilowatts, a metering charge of approximately Rs 3708 will have to be paid.

Supply charge will be according to distance

Supply affording charge has also been decided on the basis of distance from the electricity pole. A fee of approximately Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 will have to be paid for a distance of up to 100 meters. Whereas for distances more than 100 meters and up to 300 meters, this fee can range from around Rs 1425 to Rs 6500. According to the new system, separate line estimates will no longer be made for connections up to 150 kilowatts and up to a distance of 300 meters. However, processing fee and security amount will have to be deposited separately. This rule will not be applicable in underdeveloped or completely unelectrified colonies.

Installment facility for smart meter

In the new system, consumers have also been given the facility to pay in installments for installation of smart meters. If a consumer chooses the installment option, the total cost of a one phase, two wire smart meter will be around Rs 2800. Of this, Rs 1000 will have to be deposited in advance, while the remaining amount of Rs 1800 will be taken along with the electricity bill as an installment of approximately Rs 84 every month for the next 24 months. If consumers wish, they can also deposit the entire amount of Rs 2800 in lump sum.

Consumers will get benefits

Electricity department officials say that with the implementation of the new system, the process of getting electricity connection will become easier and more transparent than before. Now consumers will not have to wait for the line estimate to be made and will be able to get the connection quickly by paying the fixed fee.
