Nepal Election: Historic victory of RSP…captured 124 seats, 17 in NC’s account so far

Kathmandu: The Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is headed towards a two-thirds majority in Nepal’s parliamentary elections. In the election results declared till 7 am on Monday, it has won 124 seats in direct voting and has got about 40 lakh votes in the proportional voting system. RSP is ahead on one seat. Nepali Congress (NC) has won 17 seats and is leading on one. CPN-UML has won eight seats and is leading on one seat. NCP has won seven seats. The Labor Culture Party won three seats, the National Progressive Party (RPP) and independent candidates won one seat each. So far, results of 161 out of 165 seats have been declared under direct voting. The results of the remaining four seats are likely to come by afternoon.

In proportional voting, RSP got 37,89,803 votes, NC got 12,75,594, CPN-UML got 10,79,726, NCP got 5,55,300, Shram Sanskriti Party got 2,65,398, Janata Samajwadi Party got 1,16,463 and Rashtriya Parivartan Party got 1,08,084 votes. Nepal is going to get its first Madhesi Prime Minister Balendra Shah, who will also be the youngest Prime Minister in the history of the country.
