Government’s big decision amid Middle East war, wait for LPG cylinder booking increased
Amidst the increasing tension and war-like situation in the Middle East, the Central Government has taken an important decision related to the domestic kitchen. This decision is going to have a direct impact on LPG consumers across the country. By changing the rules related to booking of LPG cylinders, the government has increased the interval between two bookings.
The wait to book cylinder increased
According to government sources, now there will have to be a longer gap between two bookings of LPG cylinders than before. Earlier consumers could book the next cylinder after 21 days, but now this period has been increased to 25 days. This means that now any customer will have to wait for about 24 days before making the next booking. The government says that this step has been taken to stop black marketing and hoarding of gas cylinders.
In fact, before this the government had recently increased the booking interval from 15 days to 21 days. But in view of the current global circumstances and supply-related concerns, it has been decided to increase it further. However, the Petroleum Ministry has clarified that at present there is no shortage of domestic gas, petrol or diesel in the country and the supply is continuing normally.

Meanwhile, the prices of LPG cylinders have also been increased. Two days ago, the price of domestic gas cylinder was increased by Rs 60, while commercial cylinder has become costlier by Rs 114.5. After the implementation of the new price, a 14.2 kg non-subsidized domestic gas cylinder will now be available for Rs 913 in the capital Delhi, whereas earlier its price was Rs 853.
Cylinder prices increased in big cities of the country
Cylinder prices have also increased in other big cities of the country. The price of domestic LPG cylinder in Mumbai has become around Rs 912.50. Whereas in Kolkata it is available for Rs 939 and in Chennai for Rs 928.50. There has also been a big increase in the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder used in hotels, dhabas and restaurants. After increasing the price of this category of cylinder by Rs 114.5, it has now become Rs 1,883 in Delhi. It is noteworthy that even before this, on March 1, the price of commercial cylinder was increased by Rs 28.
It is being told that this is the second time in the last one year that the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have been increased. Earlier in April last year also the prices were increased by Rs 50. The government says that such decisions are taken from time to time considering the international market situation and supply system.
