We will have full support… Putin congratulated Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei

New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Mojtaba Khamenei on being elected Iran’s new leader and said he is confident he will continue his father’s work with honor. Mojtaba Khamenei is the son of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Ali Khamenei was killed in a US and Israeli attack on February 28. Since then, Mojtaba Khamenei’s name has been at the forefront as Iran’s Supreme Leader.

Putin was among the first leaders in the world to congratulate Mojtaba Khamenei on his election as Iran’s supreme leader. In a statement issued by the Kremlin, Putin said, “I am confident that you will continue your father’s work with honor and unite the Iranian people in difficult circumstances.” The Russian President further said, “For my part, I would like to reaffirm our unwavering support for Tehran and our solidarity with our Iranian friends.” The Russian President’s congratulations to Mojtaba Khamenei, despite US pressure, clearly demonstrates the Russian position.

Trump has said – the new leader will not last long.
Let us tell you that US President Trump has said that he will select the new leader of Iran. He has threatened Mojtaba Khamenei saying that he too will be killed in an American attack. US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the next leader of Iran ‘will not last long’ without Washington’s approval. Trump told ABC News, “He will have to get approval from us.” Trump said, “If he does not get approval from us, he will not last long. We want to make sure that we do not have to go back every 10 years, when you do not have a president like me who will not do that.”

Putin ignores US pressure
Despite heavy pressure from the US, Putin has congratulated the new leader of Iran and pledged Russia’s unwavering support. Putin said, “Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Excellency Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei… Please accept my congratulations on the occasion of your election as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Putin said that Russia will stand with Tehran. He said that he wants to “confirm our unwavering support for Tehran and solidarity with our Iranian friends.”
