Sugarcane farmers are about to celebrate, sugar industry will return; Preparation to set up 25 new mills

The government has taken a big step towards restarting the closed sugar mills in Bihar and increasing sugarcane production. In this regard, a two-day sugarcane technology seminar was organized on Monday under the auspices of the Sugarcane Industry Department. The program was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister cum Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister cum Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Industries Minister Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal and Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit by jointly lighting the lamp.

New incentive policy 2026 soon

Addressing the program, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said that Incentive Policy 2026 will soon be brought to promote industry in the state. Through this new opportunities for investment and employment will be created. He said that a target has been set to identify the people going out of Bihar to work as laborers and provide them employment in the state in the next five years. He said that at one time Bihar was a leader in the field of sugarcane and sugar production, but gradually this region lagged behind. Now sugarcane production will be increased again by adopting traditional farming methods along with new technology. He appealed to farmers and scientists to adopt natural farming, improved seeds and modern technology.

Work towards setting up 25 new sugar mills

Samrat Chaudhary said that earlier there were many sugar mills in Bihar, which gradually got closed. At present about 10 sugar mills are operational in the state. He told that the Prime Minister and the Home Minister had announced the setting up of 25 new sugar mills in Bihar, work has started to bring them on the ground under the leadership of the Chief Minister. He said that now the time has come to connect AI and modern technology with agriculture and industry so that both production and employment can increase.

Bihar will regain its lost heritage

Deputy Chief Minister cum Revenue Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said that at the time of independence, Bihar was the leader in the field of sugarcane production, but later this sector fell into disrepair. He said that now the double engine government is continuously working to accelerate the development of the state. He said that earlier there were 16 sugar mills in the state, many of which were closed. At present 10 mills are running and in the coming time, a big change will be seen in this area with the establishment of new mills.

Farmers are getting benefits of the schemes

Vijay Kumar Sinha said that the Sugarcane Industry Department is running many schemes in the interest of farmers. Sugarcane farmers are being given free seeds up to five acres and subsidy is being provided on agricultural equipment. Apart from this, the Cooperative Department is also working towards running sugar mills. He said that now sugar mills will be established not only in North Bihar but also in the districts of South Bihar.

Fuel will be made from sugarcane with sugar

Industries Minister Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal said that the history of Bihar is a witness that the state has once been among the leading states in the country in sugar production. He said that the land of North Bihar is very suitable for sugarcane production and the government is working rapidly to revitalize this sector. He said that to promote the industry in the state, Industrial Investment Promotion Scheme 2016 has been implemented and a new ethanol promotion policy has also been brought. Not only sugar but also fuel i.e. ethanol will be prepared from sugarcane.

Increased price for sugarcane farmers

Sugarcane Industry Minister Sanjay Kumar said that keeping in mind the demand of farmers, the price of sugarcane has also been increased. He told that in the very first cabinet meeting after the formation of the government, the Chief Minister had proposed to start the closed sugar mills and establish new mills.
He said that the department is continuously working to increase sugarcane production and make farmers happy. Work is also underway on a plan to free 66 thousand acres of land from waterlogging in the state.

Industry and employment will get a boost

Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit said that setting up industries in the state is the top priority of the government. Under Seven Nishchay-3, work is being done towards bringing major changes in the field of industry. He told that the oldest sugar mill of the country was established in Marhaura in 1904. He said that the state government is committed to opening closed sugar mills and setting up 25 new sugar mills.

700 farmers and 100 scientists participated

Additional Secretary of Sugarcane Industry Department. Senthil Kumar said that this seminar has been organized with the aim of telling the farmers about new technology and better farming methods. In this, many eminent scientists and experts of the country are giving information to the farmers. Reed Commissioner Anil Kumar Jha presented the vote of thanks. About 700 farmers and 100 scientists participated on the first day of the seminar. Apart from this, representatives of various sugar mills, Indian Sugar Mills Association, Basant Dada Patil Sugar Institute, Sugarcane Breeding Institute Coimbatore, Indian Sugarcane Research Institute Lucknow and experts from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa were also present in the program.
