PM Modi congratulates Team India for becoming world champion for the third time

Ahmedabad, 9 March 2026: The Indian cricket team won the T20 World Cup 2026 title by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. India has become the first country in the world to win the T20 World Cup on its own soil. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had congratulated Team India on this grand victory on the social media platform ‘X’. He praised the team by calling it ‘champions’.

PM Modi posted on social media and said, “Team India has proved that the combination of strong determination, restraint and self-confidence is the key to success. This victory shows that any goal can be achieved with hard work.” The Prime Minister had also shared a special Sanskrit verse, “Abhipsaam Swatmano Rakshaviratam Susthiram Taaya. Which means that a person who wants progress should make continuous efforts with patience and strong determination, which will surely lead to success.
