Iran has no intention of harming ordinary Americans: Araghchi
Tehran. Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran’s military action is defensive and is not aimed at targeting neighboring countries. He clarified that Tehran is targeting only those US military bases from where attacks on Iran are being carried out.
According to Araghchi, operations against Iran are being carried out from America’s military bases in West Asia, stopping which is Iran’s priority. He said Iran respects the sovereignty of regional countries and its relations with them, but if Iran is attacked from any country’s land or airspace, US military facilities located there could be targeted.
In a post on the social media platform X, Araghchi said Iran does not want to harm ordinary American citizens. He claimed that the majority of America’s citizens were against involvement in costly foreign wars.
He also said that Israel and some of Washington’s allies should be held responsible for rising oil prices, expensive debt and economic pressures. Earlier in another post, Araghchi criticized the US military action, calling it “Operation Epic Mistake” and said that Iran is fully prepared for possible attacks against its oil and nuclear sites.
