There was an uproar on social media and the police of Bahraich and Barabanki had to ban heavily loaded vehicles like dumpers, tailers and big trucks from passing through this bridge from Sunday so that no major incident occurs. NHI has filled the open joint by putting soil in two sacks near this open jointer and has put up boards on both sides that the bridge is weak and should walk safely. But no permanent repair has been done. While coming from Jarwal, this is the 34th jointer whose repair has become very necessary. The barrel bridge next to Sanjay Setu is being constructed very slowly due to which it will take more time and for one and a half months, heavily loaded vehicles coming to Nepal border including Gonda, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar will have to come and go from Ayodhya Sitapur, which will increase inflation.

It is said that many springs and bearings of this bridge are bad, due to which problems have arisen again and again. Kotwal Jarwal Road Santosh Singh said that there is police stationed near the bridge which is stopping big vehicles. On the other hand, Ramnagar Kotwal Anil Pandey said that police force has been deployed near Chowkaghat. In this regard, NHI Junior Engineer Anant Maurya said that repair of the bridge is possible only when a temporary barrel bridge is built. 77 casks have arrived. More work has to be done on the old bridge which is possible only if it is completely closed.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has started the work of making an alternative route before repairing the bridge. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of Ghaghra bridge and the convenience of passengers. Hundreds of pipe bridges have been ordered from Prayagraj, which are being installed in the Ghaghra River to prepare an alternative route. So far four barrel bridges have been installed. The Public Works Department has been instructed to prepare this alternative route by April 15. At present, light and small vehicles have been allowed to pass through the bridge at slow speed, one by one, until the repair of the jointer of the Ghaghra bridge is completed.

After the alternative route is completely ready, Sanjay Setu will be completely closed for repairs. The bridge was built in the 1980s and is an important route connecting eight districts including Gonda, Barabanki, Ayodhya and neighboring nation Nepal. Local people are demanding early approval of the proposed four lane project of the Government of India.
