3 New Facelifted Full-Size Sedans Launching Soon
The sedan segment, in general, is considered to be losing its popularity not just in India but around the world. Customer interest has been shifting towards SUVs, and brands are also focusing on this segment for the same reason. People who are interested in good ride quality, handling and comfort know that no SUV can replace sedans. We still have some sedans being offered in the market, and here we have a list of three new mid-size sedans that will be getting a facelift soon.
Skoda Slavia
We have been seeing test mules of the Skoda Slavia facelift lately. From the recent videos and pictures, it is clear that Skoda will be making changes to the exterior of this sedan. We would be seeing a Kushaq facelift-inspired headlamp design with integrated LED DRLs in it. The headlamps will be sleeker and will seamlessly meet the newly revised front grille.
There would be vertical slats on the signature butterfly grille, and Skoda may also offer the dotted LED connecting bar like the Kushaq. The side profile and silhouette of the sedan will remain the same, with new alloy wheels and sleek tail lamps at the rear. We won’t be surprised if the Slavia facelift looks like a baby Superb or Octavia on the outside. On the inside, the cabin will remain more or less the same, with a larger instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, seat ventilation and maybe a massager function for the rear seat, along with a panoramic sunroof and many more features.
The sedan will continue to be offered with the same 1.5 TSI with DSG and the 1.0-litre TSI with a 6-speed manual and a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
Volkswagen Virtus
After the Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen will also launch the updated or facelifted version of the popular sedan Virtus in the market. It is likely to happen after the launch of the Taigun facelift, and we expect the Virtus facelift to get cosmetic changes on the outside like the Slavia. It will get a redesigned front grille, headlamps and bumpers, along with sleeker-looking tail lamps and new wheels. The sedan will get the same set of features as the Slavia, and it is expected to retain the cabin theme and design seen in the current Volkswagen and Skoda models.
It will be offered with a 1.0 TSI petrol engine that generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of torque with a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmission. The higher variants will get the 1.5-litre TSI engine that generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of torque. This engine will get a 7-speed DSG transmission.
Honda City
The Honda City has been one of the oldest car models from the Japanese brand that is still on sale in India. We currently have the fifth-generation model, which was launched in 2020. The sedan is also due for a facelift, and Honda is likely to launch the facelifted version of the City later this year.

It is a no-nonsense sedan with a decent number of convenience and safety features. Honda will be coming up with a new-generation City in the coming years, but before that, the facelift will get minor revisions to the existing design, and we may also see more features integrated into the ADAS suite of the sedan.
It will continue to be offered with the same 1.5-litre NA petrol engine with manual and CVT gearbox options, and a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle strong hybrid petrol engine with an eCVT gearbox.
