Weather of Kashmir changed due to rain and snowfall, coming days will be pleasant, know IMD’s estimate
Srinagar. Many areas of Kashmir Valley received intermittent rain on Tuesday and the Meteorological Department has predicted more rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. According to Meteorological Center Srinagar, rainfall was recorded at most of the weather stations in the valley in the last 24 hours. Famous ski resort Gulmarg received the highest rainfall of 12.8 mm. Pahalgam, a tourist destination in South Kashmir, recorded 11.6 mm rainfall, while Srinagar received 3.0 mm rainfall.
Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded 2.8 mm light rainfall, while Kokernag recorded 0.7 mm rainfall during the same period. Despite intermittent rains, the night temperature in the valley remains much higher than normal. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in many areas of Kashmir division was recorded 4 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal, while the night temperature in many areas of Jammu division was 6 to 10 degrees above normal.
Gulmarg recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius in Kashmir division, while Bhaderwah in Jammu division recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain, snowfall and thunderstorm at many places in Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall may also occur in some areas of Kashmir division.
After this, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy for the next two days and there will be rain, snowfall and thunderstorms at many places. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir has recorded less rainfall in the winter season for the seventh consecutive year. There has been a 65 percent reduction in rainfall in the main winter period from December 2025 to February 2026. According to official data, the region has received only 100.6 mm rainfall during this period against the normal rainfall of 284.9 mm.
