More than 10 thousand women became millionaires by joining Prerna Canteen, thousands of rural women got employment in the state.
Lucknow, Read: Prerna Canteen Scheme, started in the direction of economically empowering rural women in the state, is showing positive results. Through this initiative inspired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, till now more than 10 thousand women have become millionaires. These canteens operated in different districts of the state have provided a powerful medium to women to become self-reliant.
At present more than 2100 Prerna canteens are operating in the state. These are being run by women associated with self-help groups, which has provided them a source of permanent income along with employment at the local level. This is not only strengthening the economic status of women, but also increasing their self-confidence and social participation. Prerna canteens are being operated in the District Magistrate Office, Chief Development Officer Office and Block Offices as well as in Primary Health Centers (PHC) and Community Health Centers (CHC). In these canteens, clean and affordable food is provided to government employees, patients and their families. Due to this, people are getting better facilities and the income of women is also continuously increasing.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Prerna Canteen has been established by running a special campaign at health centers also. Till now, 832 Prerna canteens have been established in PHCs and CHCs in the state. Through these canteens, rural women are getting employment in their own areas, so that they do not have to go away from home. Every woman associated with Prerna Canteen is earning an average monthly income of more than Rs 10,000. This has improved their standard of living and they are playing an important role in strengthening the economic condition of their families.
