Closer Look At Upcoming Renault Bridger Concept SUV [Video]

Renault today unveiled the concept of its upcoming sub-4 metre SUV, currently known as the Bridger. The SUV has been officially unveiled and the brand has also released an official video TVC for the Bridger. As the name suggests, the Bridger SUV will act as a bridge between the Kiger and the Duster in Renault India’s lineup. Here is all that we know about the upcoming Bridger concept SUV after today’s conference.

The Renault Bridger is a sub-4 metre SUV, and the concept showcased at the event reveals what the SUV looks like. Although Renault was calling it a mini Duster, the design doesn’t seem like the Duster at the moment. Renault has gone for an extremely boxy design, which is usually associated with SUVs.

The front end of the Bridger concept is upright, with an almost vertically dropping design for the grille and bumper. We feel this was intentional to ensure that the SUV stays under 4 metres in length. Coming to the design elements, we see the triangular-shaped LED DRLs that remind us of the Boreal SUV from some angles.

The headlamps on the Bridger SUV are actually sleek rectangular units that sit so neatly that they look like a part of the grille. On the front grille, we see an illuminated Renault badge that is neatly placed on a gloss black nose.

The bumper doesn’t have a lot of character lines and towards the bottom we see a faux skid plate and cladding. The side profile of the SUV also reveals the boxiness and we see thick black cladding around the wheel arches, which gives it a rugged look. The alloy wheel design on the Bridger doesn’t look like something that we would see in the production version. The front gets pull-type door handles, and the rear door handles are integrated into the pillars, similar to what is seen on the Duster.

The floating roof design is seen on this SUV and we also notice that the upper half is finished in gloss black along with the ORVMs. We do see roof rails on this concept, and the production version may also offer a sunroof.

As we move to the rear, the SUV once again gets a chopped-off design with a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate. There is a high-mounted tail light at the rear and we also see flared rear fenders along with vertically stacked sleek LED tail lamp units.

The bumper is finished in gloss black and completes the SUV look of the Bridger. The Bridger is an SUV that is based on the R-GMP architecture and it will be developed in India. It will first be launched in India and will later be exported to other markets. As this is being developed in India, there will be heavy localisation, which will help Renault price the SUV aggressively.

The Bridger is being developed as a true multi-energy vehicle. What this means is that the Bridger will be offered with petrol, turbo petrol, hybrid and even an EV powertrain.

With the Bridger, Renault aims to come up with an SUV that is compact, agile, safe and affordable. The Bridger concept SUV has been developed in such a way that it looks compact on the outside but offers an extremely spacious cabin. While we have not seen the interior of the Bridger concept, it is expected to be in line with Renault models that were recently launched in the market.

Renault aims to start production of the Bridger next year and we expect the official launch to happen sometime around Diwali 2027.
