Will not let you live in peace…. Trump’s warning on the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei

US President Donald Trump has expressed concern over the appointment of Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Trump said he does not believe Iran’s new leadership will be able to “live in peace” as the US military campaign against Iran continues. Trump said in an interview that the recent US strikes on Iran were aimed at deterring potential attacks by Iran and that about 50% of Iran’s missile capability had been destroyed in those strikes.

Trump said, “We struck first and destroyed 50% of their missiles. If we had not done that, it would have been a much more difficult fight. No other president can show that much courage. I don’t want any president in 5 or 10 years to be able to do that.” He also said that without the attack, Iran could attack within three days and that acquiring nuclear weapons would pose an immediate threat.

Donald Trump also said that negotiations with Iran are possible, but this negotiation will be on his terms. The development followed the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in joint US-Israeli strikes on February 28, following which Iran targeted US and Israeli targets in several Gulf countries in retaliation. Subsequently, the Assembly of Experts of Iran appointed Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader.
