IPL 2026: There is a lot of curiosity among cricket fans about the schedule of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Earlier it was expected that the schedule would be released on the day of the T20 World Cup final i.e. recently, but it did not happen. Now Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devjit Saikia has given a big update on this. He told when the schedule will be released and there is a special twist in it.

New date of release of schedule

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said while talking to news agency IANS, "We are planning to release the IPL 2026 schedule by March 12. Now we will release the schedule for the first 20 days." This means fans will not have to wait much longer. Complete information about the initial matches will be available in a few days.

Only the first 20 days’ portion will come

Earlier in some reports it was said that the entire schedule will come in two phases and the initial half has been cleared first, but now it has become clear that initially only the schedule of the first 20 days i.e. the initial matches will be released. The remaining parts will come later. This decision has been taken so that matches can be arranged keeping in mind the election situation.

There is a delay due to elections

The main reason for the delay in IPL schedule is the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal, Assam and Tamil Nadu this year. Many IPL matches are to be held in these states, hence the schedule is being prepared keeping in mind the dates and phases of the elections. BCCI is waiting for the announcement of the Election Commission, after which the remaining matches will be planned.

when will the tournament start

IPL 2026 can start from March 28 and the final can be played on May 31. Earlier the dates were being said to be between 26th March to 30th May, but now there has been a change in this. The actual dates will be confirmed only after the official schedule is released. It is exciting for the fans to wait to see how the tournament will run and in how many phases the schedule will come.
