Shopian Shopian, In an effort to strengthen the fisheries sector and support local fishermen, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Shopian, Dr Naseer Ahmed Lone distributed 37 ice boxes among the beneficiaries under the Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement Project (JKCIP) at the Mini Secretariat, Shopian on Tuesday.
This initiative of the Fisheries Department aims to help fishermen and fish farmers to store and transport their produce more effectively, thereby ensuring better quality of fish and reducing post-harvest losses. Officials said the move is expected to improve market returns for those engaged in the sector. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lone stressed the importance of modern facilities and government-supported efforts in strengthening fisheries and improving the income of people involved in this trade.
