According to Premanand Maharaj, those who eat onion and garlic should serve Laddu Gopal in this way.
Premanand Maharaj Ji: Swami Premanand Maharaj’s videos often go viral on social media. He lives in Vrindavan, and devotees come from far and wide to listen to his sermons. Devotees of Lord Shri Krishna and Radha Rani come to seek blessings and teachings from Premanand Maharaj. Devotees also put their problems before Maharaj, for which he provides solutions.
Laddu Gopal is a symbol of the child form of Shri Krishna, and devotees serve him by installing it in their homes. In such a situation, many devotees question whether a person who eats garlic and onion can serve Laddu Gopal or not, and if yes, then in what way? Premanand Maharaj has given the answer to this question in his sermons.
How should onion-garlic eaters serve Laddu Gopal?
According to Premanand Maharaj, if Laddu Gopal is kept in the house, then he should be served in the same way as a small child is served. Just as it is necessary to wake up children in the morning, bathe them, feed them and put them to sleep, similarly Laddu Gopal should also be served with love and devotion. Maharaj also told that whenever you offer food to God, you must add basil leaves in it, because without basil, God does not accept food.
Furthermore, the chef also explained that potatoes, onions and garlic are all grown, but onion and garlic are considered tamasic. Therefore, their consumption is prohibited for sages and saints, because they have to stay away from Tamoguna and Rajoguna and adopt Satoguna and move ahead in worship and meditation.
Maharaj told that consumption of onion and garlic is not a sin, but those who are following the path of God, do not eat it. Premanand Maharaj says that one should not consume such substances which cause pain to other living beings, like meat and fish.
Maharaj told that only food without onion and garlic should be offered to God. However, you can consume them, but whenever you cook, first prepare separate food for Laddu Gopal and only then use onion-garlic. In case of roti, you can eat the same roti that is being prepared for everyone.
Premanand Maharaj further said that sometimes circumstances arise when some people cannot give up garlic and onion. If you are a student, working in the army, a businessman, frequently travel or live abroad and food without garlic and onion is not available, then consuming it will not be considered a sin. At the same time, if you are consuming garlic and onion as a medicine, then it is important to keep in mind its quantity and limit.
