LPG, Petrol and Diesel prices today: Get city wise list amid West Asia crisis
New Delhi: The West Asia crisis has disrupted the energy supplies. India is also facing the heat as oil, LPG, and LNG supplies have been begun affected. India is a huge importer of LPG and CNG and a large portion of which is purchased from Gulf countries. Reports of LPG shortages are emerging from several cities across the country. In this article, we inform you about the prices of petrol, diesel, and LPG in different cities across the country on March 11.
LPG Price Hike in India
Amid geopolitical tensions, the price of domestic LPG cylinders was increased by Rs 60 across the country. After this, the price of a 14.2 kg non-subsidised domestic cylinder in Delhi was priced at Rs 913. The price of a 19 kg commercial gas cylinder was increased by about Rs 114–115, costing Rs 1,883 in Delhi.
To ensure adequate LPG supply amid the Middle East crisis, the Indian government has taken several steps, such as implementing ESMA and asking the refinery companies to increase LPG production. The government has also asked to prioritise the supply of domestic gas cylinders. The government has also directed that 100 per cent gas supply be maintained for certain sectors.
LPG, CNG, piped cooking gas get top priority
The government has also changed the rules regarding gas cylinder booking. The new rules state that a consumer cab book a new domestic LPG cylinder after a gap of 25 days. The government took this step to prevent hoarding and black marketing.
The US and Israel’s attack on Iran and Tehran’s retaliation have led to disruption of the Strait of Hormuz – the strategic waterway through which India imports 85-90 per cent of its LPG imports from countries like Saudi Arabia. the Indian government is looking for alternate sources for the imports from countries such as the US, Russia, Venezuela, Australia and other Oceanic countries.
The Indian government has rejigged allocation to ensure uninterrupted supply for households and transport sectors. LPG production, CNG and piped cooking gas will take precedence over all other sectors using natural gas, the government has stated in its notification.

Crude Oil prices decline
Petrol and diesel prices have not been hiked. West Texas Intermediate crude futures traded below $85 per barrel on Wednesday. Prices extended sharp losses after the IEA proposed the largest oil reserve release in history. Crude oil prices went down today as Brent crude oil price declined 0.26% to $87.57 a barrel.
