‘My next target is…’, Gautam Gambhir told Team India’s plan
Under the coaching of head coach Gautam Gambhir, the Indian cricket team has won the T20 World Cup. Team India, which won the last World Cup with senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja, had mostly young players this time. After this success, head coach Gautam Gambhir has spoken on many matters. He has also told his next plan that now he wants to win the Test Championship. Interestingly, the Indian team has not been able to win even a single Test Championship yet. Gautam Gambhir says that India still has 9 matches left and he wants to take the team there at any cost. Gautam Gambhir says that he does not want to create superstars in the Indian team but he wants to create a super team.
Gautam Gambhir has spoken openly about not laughing during the match, superstar culture, the team’s next target and the atmosphere of the team. Praising T20 captain Surya Kumar Yadav, Gautam Gambhir has also said that his work becomes much easier because of Surya. Gautam Gambhir has also responded to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s social media post in which Dhoni had advised him to laugh.

In a podcast with ANI, Gautam Gambhir talked about the happiness after the victory. He has said, ‘Now I can smile for the next few months. This journey was not just for the World Cup. We started this process in the last one and a half year. Then the only effort was to see how we can win the World Cup. Our goal was to see how we could become the most fearless team. How brave and fearless you can be in an ICC tournament decides whether you can win the world or not. The way we played shows that we were able to implement on the field what we talked about in one and a half years.
What did Gambhir say when he did not laugh?
Gautam Gambhir often looks quite serious and this is discussed even in the commentary box. After winning the World Cup, former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had also advised Gambhir in his social media post that it would look good if he smiles. When Gambhir was asked a question on this, he said, ‘As a coach, sometimes you are in such a difficult situation, which many people would not have faced. It is good that he (Dhoni) tweeted on this. There’s a lot at stake when you’re in the dugout. There are so many expectations that even if you want to laugh, you won’t be able to laugh. When you play the World Cup, losing is not an option but that may not always be the case. There is no guarantee of victory. This time too there was no guarantee that we would have won the World Cup.

Reply given on Kirti Azad’s statement
When asked about Kirti Azad’s statement on visiting the temple after the World Cup victory, Gautam Gambhir said, ‘What should I say about this? This question is not worth answering. This is a big opportunity for the country and it should be celebrated. There is no need to raise such statements. This should be answered only if you want to belittle the efforts of the 15 players. Like this, tomorrow anyone will wake up and give any statement and we will keep replying. There was so much pressure on the players after losing a match and if you are giving such an answer then you are underestimating their hard work.
On supporting Sanju Samson, Gautam Gambhir has said, ‘I supported him because I believe that he can do a lot for the team. Sometimes people are able to score less runs, the same happened with him against New Zealand. It is not that your bad form will last forever. We gave him a break and when he comes back we know he will do well. We have seen his talent. We hope he will be able to resume his career.

On Arshdeep Singh’s controversial throw, Gautam Gambhir said, ‘You are playing for your team and you have to show aggression. There is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong if you throw back. No player likes to be hit two sixes and I want to see a similar response from my players. Even if Arshdeep did not apologize, I had no problem. It is good of him that he apologized but there was no need for it. There is no friend or enemy on the cricket field. All this used to happen earlier also, today you promote it through social media but there is no need for it so much.
