Internet reached 103 crore people… Ashwini Vaishnav said in Lok Sabha, usage increased 4 times in India since 2014

New Delhi: The government said in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that internet facilities are being provided to the people in the country at affordable prices and currently 103 crore people have internet connectivity whereas in 2014 it was only 25 crore people.

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwani Vaishnav, in reply to a supplementary question during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, said that in the last ten years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has worked on three fronts for digital inclusion through Digital India. Firstly, it involves increasing access to the internet, reducing its cost and thirdly, providing digital infrastructure.

He said that while only 25 crore people used the internet in 2014, today 103 crore people have access to it. He said that today internet is considered to be the most affordable in India. He said that the average tariff for internet in India is 25 times less than the global average.

Vaishnav said that immediate action was taken on the controversy that arose regarding robots during the AI ​​conference and the stall of that university was removed from the conference venue. The Union Minister, in response to a supplementary question related to the Railway Ministry, said that several projects are being worked on to strengthen the rail infrastructure in Mumbai. To strengthen the security system, work on the Kavach project is also going on at a fast pace.
