Big decision of Maharashtra government, ‘Come early, go early’ scheme implemented for women employees
Mumbai: Maharashtra government has taken an important step keeping in mind the convenience of working women. Women government employees working in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) can now get some relief from the trouble of traveling in crowded trains. The state government has announced the implementation of a new system called “Early Come, Early Go” which aims to save women from the rush of rush hour and make their working life a little easier.
What is the “early come, early go” plan?
Giving information about this scheme on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar said that this facility will be implemented for women state government employees working in Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This will also include women employees working in departments under the jurisdiction of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Under the new system, women employees can reach office between 9:15 am and 9:45 am.
Similarly, in the evening also they will be allowed to leave the office maximum 30 minutes before the scheduled time. The government believes that this will provide a lot of relief to women from the morning and evening rush. Pawar said that suburban trains in Mumbai and surrounding areas are extremely crowded during peak hours. In such a situation, this system of flexible timings will make travel more safe and comfortable for women.

The government has also clarified that the women employees availing this facility will have to ensure that the functioning of their department is not affected. If there is urgent administrative work, court-related matters or other important responsibilities on any given day, employees may have to stay longer than necessary. It has been said in the government order that this system will be implemented keeping in mind the administrative needs.
Government’s emphasis on women empowerment
During the discussion held in the Legislative Council on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working for the development and safety of women. He said that the aim of the government is to create a society where women get respect, equal opportunities and security. Thanking all the members who participated in the discussion, he said that many important suggestions related to women empowerment have come forward and the government will consider them in a positive manner.
Initiative for the safety of women and children
The government is running many schemes for the safety of women and children. Pawar said that under the “Operation Muskaan” campaign, 14 campaigns were conducted from July 2015 to February 2026. Through these operations, 42,594 missing children were searched across the state.
Apart from this, 5,066 women and 2,771 children were traced through “Operation Shodh”. He said that special cells are working to search for missing persons in all the districts of the state. At the same time, 51 “Bharosa Cells” have also been established to resolve issues related to women.
Economic strengthening plans
The state government is running many schemes to empower women economically. These include schemes like Ladki Behan, Namo Women Empowerment, Lake Ladki, Annapurna and Lakhpati Didi. To provide market to the products prepared by self-help groups, the government has started platforms like Umed Mall, Umed Mart and Mahalakshmi Saras. Now these products can also be purchased through online medium.
Anganwadi and maternity facilities
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the government is also working to improve the honorarium and facilities of Anganwadi workers and assistants. Drinking water facility has been provided to 17,254 Anganwadi centers in the state. Apart from this, 180 days maternity leave is being given to government women employees. Permission has also been given to take leave on half pay for one year after maternity leave and no medical certificate will be required for this.
Initiative for rural women also
“Adishakti Abhiyan” is being run to ensure safety and dignified life of women in rural areas. The aim of this campaign is to stop child marriage, create atrocities free villages and reduce the school dropout rate of girls. The government is also emphasizing on strengthening the safety of women through health, education, skill development, special schemes for women farmers and laborers as well as strict enforcement of laws.
