India’s dominance in ICC rankings: Abhishek Sharma No. 1 batsman
Dubai, 11 March 2026: The echo of India’s historic victory in the T20 World Cup 2026 under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav is now visible in the latest ICC rankings. The players of the Indian team, which became world champion for the third time by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in Ahmedabad, have made huge gains in the rankings. Especially young batsmen Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kish have proved India’s batting strength by occupying the top-2 positions in the world.
Dabody’s explosive batsman Abhishek Sharma remains at the first position in the T20 International batsmen’s rankings. The stormy half-century he scored in the final against New Zealand has further strengthened his dominance. He has been the world’s best batsman in T20 format for a long time.
Ishan Kishan, who created a stir by scoring 317 runs in the World Cup, has made a big gain in the ranking. It has now reached second place by jumping two places. Ishaan is now only 4 rating points behind Abhishek Sharma. Along with this, after a long time in T20 history, two Indian batsmen are seen in the top-2.
Kerala’s star batsman Sanju Samson has made a tremendous jump of 18 places in the rankings and has now reached 22nd position. Whereas Shivam Dubey has also climbed four places and reached number 27. Tilak Verma (7th position) and Suryakumar Yadav (9th position) have also been successful in maintaining their positions in the top-10.
A big change has been seen in the list of bowlers. Indian spinner Varun Chakraborty has slipped to second position after losing the first position. Now Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan (753 points) has become the world number-1 T20 bowler. India’s Jasprit Bumrah is at sixth place and all-rounder Axar Patel is at 17th place. However, Arshdeep Singh has lost three places and has reached 16th rank.
In the T20 all-rounder rankings, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza remains at the first position, while India’s Hardik Pandya has moved up to the second position. Both players have achieved the best rating points of their career this week.
